One Major Upset at DDA Open – 2009

There were not too many surprises at the Semi Final stage in this years DDA Open – 2009. While our young correspondents were busy feeding us with results – there would have been other noticable performances that did not find a mention in our posts.  Well we can hope after the event  final results will be made available…………………………….

  1. Tanvi Khanna the lanky girl from Delhi announced her arrival on the domestic scene this year by beating the much fancied and higher ranked Sai Meera (a Noida girl who shifted to Chennai sometime ago and is presently training at ISA there). Tanvi who along with her sister Kavya are great swimmers actually skipped this years Junior Nationals in Indore as they were attending their other sport.  Sai Meera who had pleasant memories of the DDA Open 2008 was beaten quiet easily by Tanvi 13-11, 11-8, 11-1.
  2. Mukul Yadav of Dhampur (UP) almost created another surprise before going down in a closely fought semi-finals to Junaid Muzaffar 9-11, 11-6, 6-11, 11-8, 4-11.
  3. Ranjeet Singh of Dhampur (UP) continued the fine form shown at the recently concluded U.P. State Senior Teams Selection Trails in Noida to beat Robin Mann (11-9, 11-6, 11-7)
